Form Smart Swim 2 LT Makes the Smart Swim Goggles More Accessible

Form is looking to make its smart swim goggles more accessible than ever. No, they’re not quite lowering prices quite yet. Instead, they’re introducing a new entry-level model that strips it down to the bare essentials with the Form Smart Swim 2 LT.

To the unfamiliar, the company currently has two models of their smart swim googles. There’s the base Swim 2 and a Pro model that adds Gorilla Glass lenses for better durability, with everything else being the same. For this entry-level iteration, they’re removing the heart rate monitoring available in both, but keeping everything else the same, allowing you to ga in access to the heads-up display (HUD), form monitoring, and other features at a more affordable price point.

The Form Smart Swim 2 LT is a pair of swim goggles with a bunch of onboard electronics that should make it so much more useful on the water. Its main feature is a HUD that shows your swimming stats in real time, giving you a great idea of how fast you’re going and how far along you are in your training. The HUD won’t just show you raw numbers, it can even produce real-time guidance, such as when you’re on the last stretch, so you can go all out. According to the outfit, it will do this through every part of the training, from the warm up and the main set to the rest intervals and the cool down, with instructions appearing directly on your line of sight, so you can’t miss it. Simply put, it’s a great way to stay focused, as it keeps your mind on the task at hand with every stroke.

You can customize the kind of things that appear on the HUD, too, so it can show data-only layouts, guided workout instructions, or objective-based reminders based on your training plans. This makes it easy to see your progress in real-time, allowing you to make adjustments on the fly right at the moment it matters. Do note, some of the more advanced items (such as real-time insights and training objectives) will require a Premium subscription, so it’s mostly just data layouts out of the box. It does get the SwimStraight feature for free, which is basically a built-in compass that helps you stay on curse when swimming in open waters, where it’s a bit easy to lose your way.

The Form Smart Swim 2 LT keeps a log of all your swims on the companion app, allowing you to see a detailed record of your progress over time. It can also sync all data to Apple Health, Strava, and other services. The goggles come with five interchangeable nose bridges, replaceable eye seals, mirrored lenses, and a rechargeable battery rated at 14 hours of operation. If you want the full complement of features, by the way, you need to get a Premium subscription, which gives you the real-time coaching (HeadCoach), guided workouts, training plans, and more. So yeah, it’s another monthly payment to add to your ever-growing list of recurring expenses if you want the advanced capabilities.

The Form Smart Swim 2 LT is available now, priced at $149.
